Emergency Kits, Survival Kits, 72 Hour Kits | Emergency Preparedness List

  • Did You Know…

That over 85% of American households do not have 72 survival kits for every member of their household?

Of that 15% who do have a survival kit for each member of their home, 10% of those kits are not up-to-date and serve them no good.

Emergency Preparedness List

If you are in the mood to create your own emergency survival kit, here is a complete emergency preparedness list.  Feel free to print this list out and use it as a check list when you are preparing your 72 hour kits.  Also keep in mind that you might want to add your own items to this list and that is perfectly fine.  If some of these don’t apply, don’t worry about them.  The point is to help educate you about what you need so you can prepare your emergency kit right!

Things to take note of:

1. Update your 72 Hour Kit every six months (put a note in your calendar/planner) to make sure that: all food, water, and medication is fresh and has not expired; clothing fits; personal documents and credit cards are up to date; and batteries are charged.
2. Small toys/games are important too as they will provide some comfort and entertainment during a stressful time.
3. Older children can be responsible for their own pack of items/clothes too.
4. You can include any other items in your 72 Hour Kit that you feel are necessary for your family’s survival.
5. Some items and/or flavors might leak, melt, “flavor” other items, or break open. Dividing groups of items into individual Ziploc bags might help prevent this.
